A crackdown on massage parlors and related businesses in Torrance has resulted in a stunning 77 percent of them receiving citations for lewd activity or some other violation of the Municipal Code.

Moreover, the 15 arrests for prostitution or lewd conduct likely understate the scope of the illegal activity going on.

For instance, more than 30 citations were issued for failure to comply with operating requirements such as having customers sign in. And not keeping track of customers suggests the kind of massaging going on is likely not lawful.

And btw, what are the consequences for receiving a citation for either lewd conduct and/or soliciting a prostitute? Does anyone know?

I read somewhere that you have to register as a sex offender, but I only thought that something like this was for a more serious charge.

Vice is pretty much just a political credit and funding method used by cities who can afford to run a real vice squad. The city counsel can make families and churches happy while using those fines to prevent tax hikes.

If you get busted for prostitution you will usually just be fined with some community service. But if you have other issues on your record, it could mean probation and jail time. However, the biggest shitter is having that on your record for everyone to see. In other words you better be the shit to still land the job you want.
